In the spring of 1982, Jorge Delano, a Venezuelan businessman and fledgling balloon pilot, led an expedition to the jungle highlands in the remote south eastern corner of his country.  Over the next three years, Delano organized and led a series of similar expeditions to other remote wilderness areas of Venezuela, each presenting pilots and crew with a challenging combination of weather and terrain.  They would be flying where no one ever had before, in conditions that would stretch men and flying systems to their limits.*

"Above the Lost World", is the record of four daring flights in the skies of Venezuela, and the chronicle of one man's rediscovery of the wild glories of his country.*

AUTANA COFFEE TABLE BOOK and VIDEO. 

This is a book and film about the Autana, a mountain in the wilderness of southwestern Venezuela, and about a group of adventurers who were drawn to it. During five expeditions over the course of two years, the mountain became a setting in which they could exercise their skills, and against which they could measure themselves.  It is therefore a book about landscape enlivened by human ambition and courage, a book about a real mountain that came to have, in the imaginations of those who visited it, the seductive power of a dream to which one returns again and again.*
